A California native, Kim Brandon-Watson draws inspiration from the coastal landscape she now calls home in Dana Point. Born into a family of gifted artists, her creative journey was profoundly influenced by mentor Darrell Brandon, whose guidance helped shape her evolving artistic vision. This foundation led her to the prestigious Art Center College of Design as an Illustration major, followed by studies in computer-generated art at UCLA.
Kim's career uniquely spans both technology and fine art. In the 1980s, she pioneered in the emerging computer graphics industry, eventually founding a successful Interactive Multimedia firm that served Fortune 500 clients. For over two decades, she led creative teams, developing everything from marketing applications to corporate events, while maintaining her dedication to visual storytelling. After selling her company in 2016, Kim returned to her artistic roots in Orange County, transitioning from the fast-paced digital world to a more contemplative fine art practice. Working primarily in watercolors, oils, and acrylics, she captures fleeting moments of coastal life with particular attention to light and emotion. Her keen eye for emotionally resonant moments translates into works that capture the essence of California coastal living.
Kim's work has gained significant recognition, including publication in North Light Books' prestigious AcrylicWorks collection. Her art has been exhibited in notable venues throughout Southern California, including Laguna Art Gallery, Las Laguna Art Gallery, Laguna Art-A-Fair, and The Brandon Gallery in Fallbrook. Most recently, the Montage Laguna Beach has acquired two of her paintings for their lobby collection, marking a significant milestone in her artistic journey. Through her work, Kim continues to explore and celebrate the unique beauty of coastal California Living, creating pieces that resonate with both collectors and art enthusiasts alike.
